Frequently Asked Questions

1.  How do I enter the FREE DRAW?

You will be automatically entered into the FREE DRAW when you pledge support to any of the active projects on The Funding Forum, regardless of whether the project successfully reaches it's target or not.  However - no payment is necessary - you can also enter the FREE DRAW by registering your interest via the Contact Us page.

2.  When will the FREE DRAW take place?

The winner of the first FREE DRAW  was ELIZABETH BARKER of Northallerton, UK, who walked away with a brand new iPad Mini.

Keep a close eye on the home page of this site to find out when the next  FREE DRAW will take place...  Winners of the Free Draws will be published on the The Funding Forum home page - the winner will be notified directly by email and the prize will be dispatched within 10 working days of the draw taking place.

3.  How do I fund a project?

Search the live projects to find the one you would like to support, then click the PLEDGE NOW button. You'll be taken to PayPal where you'll authorise the payment.

4.  I don't live in the UK - can I still support a project on The Funding Forum?

Yes - as long as you have a verified PayPal account (signing up to PayPal is easy and it's free) then follow step '3' above: just select the project you want to support and click the PLEDGE NOW button. You'll be taken to PayPal where you'll authorise the payment - note the amount you pledge on the site will be in Pounds Sterling, PayPal will automatically convert this to your currency at the point of payment (ie once the project has successfully raised the target fund on the target completion date).

5.  When will I be charged?

When you make a pledge, you will be taken through a PayPal Pre-Approval process to grant us permission to withdraw the funds from your PayPal account should the project be a success. No money will exchange hands (or computers) until the project's deadline date. If the project is successful, your money will be transferred straight to the project owner within a few hours. If the project does not reach its goal by the deadline date then your contribution will be cancelled and you will not be charged.

Please note - The Funding Forum Ltd does not have access to your financial account details at any time. All payment transfers are controlled securely by PayPal.

6.  Does The Funding Forum take a commission?

Yes, we take a small commission from the total fund raised by the Project Owner; this is fixed to just 5% of the pledge amount - but only if the project is successfully funded.  PayPal will also take a small fee (between 1.3% and 3.4% depending on total amount raised) for processing the payments on successful projects.  Project Owners are advised to add these fees to the total amount they need when calculating the target amount to raise through the Funding Forum.

No fees are charged if the project does not reach it's funding target - hence pitching a project on The Funding Forum doesn't cost a penny as fees only apply IF you successfully raise your target funds by your target date.

7.  How will I receive my reward?

If the project is successfully funded, the Project Owner will contact you directly with details.

8.  What happens if I don't receive my reward?

Regretfully, we cannot monitor the distribution of rewards once a project is completed - any queries should be directed straight to the Project Owner.  If you experience any difficulties/issues you should report this to The Funding Forum via the Contact Us form. Although we are unable to get involved in your transaction we can ensure anyone breaching the rules/guidelines are prevented from using the site again - we will also report them to other crowd funding sites.

9.  What happens if the project isn't successfully funded?

If the project does not reach its goal by the deadline date then your contribution will be cancelled; you will not be charged, and you wont receive your reward. That's why it's important that you help publicise your own project – by encouraging others to fund the project it is more likely to be successful meaning you are more likely to get your reward.

10.  How do I know if my pledge is successful?

You can monitor your pledges from the My Pledges page in the My Account menu.

11.  Can I cancel my pledge?

No, once you have confirmed your pledge through PayPal you have committed to support the project. If the project doesn't meet its funding goal by the deadline date, your contribution will be cancelled and you will not be charged.

12.  Can I increase my pledge?

No, once you have confirmed your pledge through PayPal you cannot increase the amount. You can, however, always make another pledge to the project.  Individuals may pledge up to 4 times against one project.

13.  What should I do if I believe a project or reward is fake?

We have a strict no-tolerance policy towards illegitimate projects or rewards. If you have evidence to support a project/reward being illegitimate, please contact us with all details as soon as possible so we can perform a review and take action as required.

14.  Can I use The Funding Forum to raise money for charity?

YES - The Funding Forum will now accept projects raising money for charity in the 'Good Causes' category.  Although reward based projects are normally more successful, Registered Charities are welcome to publish a crowd funding project without rewards.

15.  How does the 5% or £1000 offer work?

Every month The Funding Forum will pledge 5%* of the total target goal, to one of the live projects which will be randomly selected. If the lucky winner successfully achieves their target goal by their target date, fees will still apply as normal but effectively The Funding Forum have invested their commission* back into your project.

(*or £1000, whichever is lower)
